I am an author, freelance writer and columnist with a strong sense of humour. Having lived in five countries and travelled extensively, I have used my experiences as the basis for works of both fact and fiction. I have a keen interest in the customs and historic background of other cultures.
My experiences have been recorded in my columns and form the basis of two books, The Greatest Moving Abroad Tips in the World and (as yet unpublished) Ramblings of a Perennial Nomad. I also write extensively for writing magazines and websites, which led to the co-authorship of The Writer’s ABC Checklist.
Always interested in writing as a career, it wasn’t until 2001 that I was able to concentrate my efforts. I started a comprehensive course with the Writers Bureau in 2002, which opened areas of writing I had never previously considered. I am now a tutor for Writers Bureau.
Although humour has featured strongly in my prose writing, being awarded first prize in the prestigious Petra Kenney Poetry Competition (comic verse category) was particularly satisfying, as this was my first entry in any poetry competition.
Aged 55, I now live with my husband in the Dordogne in France.
